Dear Lynch Syndrome: Please Stop Trying to Kill David Dubin

David Dubin is the Lynch Syndrome OG.

What?! Never heard of Lynch Syndrome?

Let us break it down for you in today's episode. Basically it's is a genetic glitch that makes some of us more likely to develop cancer. Scientists estimate that about 1 in 279 people carry a Lynch Syndrome mutation.

David and I happen to be among the 1s in the 279s.

A three-time cancer survivor, David and his wife Robin are the founders of Alive and Kickn, a foundation with a mission to improve the lives of individuals and families affected by Lynch Syndrome. The foundation focuses on research, education, and screening.

"Alive" comes from the fact that David is very much alive and enjoying life, despite cancer's best efforts to take him down.

"Kickn" comes from his passion for soccer, although he confesses on today's episode that his game is a tad rusty.

Also check out the Living With Lynch page, a collaboration between Alive and Kickn and the Colon Cancer Coalition. They are hosting a Lynch Syndrome patient workshop on Oct. 9, 2020.

About the Podcast

Man Up to Cancer
The show built for men facing cancer, and the people who love us!
I'm your host, Trevor Maxwell. I'm a stage IV colon cancer survivor, and I've got a message for other men: You don't have to go through cancer alone.

Every week on the Man Up to Cancer podcast, you can expect raw, unfiltered conversations about men, cancer, and our experiences. My guests will be other patients, survivors, advocates, and friends from #cancerland.

We'll tackle the topics of grief, pain, and the physical suck-fest of cancer. But .. PLOT TWIST.. we're also going to joke, laugh, and have fun.
