Open Heart, Warrior Spirit: Jared McMillan

Earlier this summer, I did a solo episode in which I told you about one of my friends and heroes, Jared McMillan. At the time, Jared was going through some brutal side effects from his cancer treatment, and had also just been diagnosed with COVID-19.

In today’s episode, you get to hear from the man himself!

I was honored to have a heart-to-heart talk with Jared. We touch on a wide range of topics, including the importance of family, and the unique challenges that men face when we are diagnosed with cancer.

Jared is a husband, dad, recently retired Air Force officer, and a stage 4 colon cancer badass. In the Howling Place (Man Up to Cancer’s private Facebook group for men impacted by cancer), we all look up to Jared for his strength, courage, and honesty.

If this resonates with you (especially if you are a man impacted by cancer looking to connect with others who are in the same boat) I invite you to learn more about our community at www.manuptocancer.com

About the Podcast

Man Up to Cancer
The show built for men facing cancer, and the people who love us!
I'm your host, Trevor Maxwell. I'm a stage IV colon cancer survivor, and I've got a message for other men: You don't have to go through cancer alone.

On the Man Up to Cancer podcast, you can expect raw, unfiltered conversations about men, cancer, and our experiences. My guests will be other patients, survivors, advocates, health experts, and friends from #cancerland.

We'll tackle a wide range of topics including cancer screenings, chemo, friendship, scars, sex and intimacy, grief, and the physical suck-fest of cancer. But .. PLOT TWIST.. we're also going to joke, laugh, and have fun.
