Chef Kevin Gillespie: Cancer and the Things that Really Matter

One day this summer, Sarah and the girls and I were watching Chef Kevin Gillespie crush it on Top Chef. We love that guy! Then we find out he’s a fellow cancer survivor, and I’m like, hey, Kevin, you should come on the podcast! And because he’s an awesome human, he does!!

Kevin is the real deal, super inspirational without the BS.

He is an acclaimed chef, restaurant owner, and businessman who became a breakout star on Bravo’s award-winning television series Top Chef.

Kevin is the founder and owner of Red Beard Restaurants, including the restaurants Gunshow and Revival in his home state of Georgia.

He has the greatest titles ever for his cookbooks:

Fire in My Belly and Pure Pork Awesomeness.

Importantly for this show, Kevin is a survivor of a rare form of renal cancer, for which he had a kidney removed in 2018.

About the Podcast

Man Up to Cancer
The show built for men facing cancer, and the people who love us!
I'm your host, Trevor Maxwell. I'm a stage IV colon cancer survivor, and I've got a message for other men: You don't have to go through cancer alone.

On the Man Up to Cancer podcast, you can expect raw, unfiltered conversations about men, cancer, and our experiences. My guests will be other patients, survivors, advocates, health experts, and friends from #cancerland.

We'll tackle a wide range of topics including cancer screenings, chemo, friendship, scars, sex and intimacy, grief, and the physical suck-fest of cancer. But .. PLOT TWIST.. we're also going to joke, laugh, and have fun.
